The house-convent of Santa Teresa (also called Casa de Santa Teresa) is a house where Santa Teresa de Jesús resided in Salamanca (in the current Plaza de Santa Teresa).1 The house was owned by Comendador Juan Antonio Ovalle Prieto and is located near the Church of San Juan de Barbalos. Its construction dates from the late sixteenth century. Santa Teresa will live in the city, right in this house, for a period of almost four years.HistoryAfter the journey of Santa Teresa through various places in Castile making foundations of Convents, enters the city for the first time on October 31, 1570 where it is provisionally established in order to start what will be its seventh foundation. This is the Convent of San José de Carmelitas Descalzas located in the historic center of the city. In his stay of 1573 obeying his director, the Jesuit Ripalda, he wrote the book of his foundations.
