As a family
With children
Behind this university and cultured seriousness, there is a fun city full of "treasures" to discover on an "adventurous" trip, without rest, in which to have fun, to be fascinated, to be frightened. In short, entertain yourself and learn in a “soft” way without realizing it. We propose several activities to do if you come to the city as a family, with children:
The first thing you should do is approach the Tourist Information Office, there they will inform you of everything: the map of the city and the times of the monuments. You have at your disposal for free:
-A tourist application with audio guide, routes and cultural agenda. Find Salamanca Turismo in your market.
-Cultural agenda at www.ciudaddecultura.org
For children we propose two games:
Walk through the old town discovering the details carved on the facades of the monuments. In the Tourist Information Office you can buy, for € 0.50, the material "La Patrulla Renacuaja", a family game to get to know the city that proposes a cultural tour in which to pass several tests. Also the game Salamanca in Kids details, with which to discover the details of the rich facades of the monuments of the city, and the album 'Small feet'.
We are already provided.
To start the tour of the city you can start at Monumenta Salmanticae, in the Church of San Millán, Veracruz Street, where there is an Interpretation Center of the Heritage of the city with a large model of the historic center on which a video show is projected with simpler explanations for children and tactile monitors. There you can also find information about the city on the touch screens, try on virtual reality glasses to get to know other spaces of the city that can be visited and the most fun: participate in an escape game. It is a game of observation and ingenuity to perform as a team (with a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 6), aimed at all audiences. You have to book appointment 628 05 24 90. But you can check out other fun games here.
Visit the Museum of Art Nouveau and Art Deco; contains a curious collection of porcelain dolls, automaton dolls and toys that children will love. It is also located in a modernist building with stained glass windows.
Also enter the Museum of Automotive History, an exhibition space with more than 200 vehicles, documents and accessories related to the car.
The Artilugios para fascinar collection shows various animation and projection systems in a fun visit in which to discover how a magic lantern or a zootrope works. It is located in the Filmoteca de Castilla y León.
And in the Museum of Commerce and Industry you can teach them the inventions and innovations that once solved the problems of manufacturers, sellers and consumers.
Climbing the towers of the cathedral and the Clerecía is another interesting proposal, when you are making the visit do not forget to download the interactive game they have with challenges and questions to ask during the tour. In the Orchard of Calixto and Melibea you can make a repair stop.
If you like archaeology, these are the spices you should know: the Interpretation Centre of the Salamancan walls, next to it, a mysterious place, the Cave of Salamanca; the Cerro de San Vicente, where the first settlers of the city settled; The Botanical Archaeological Park (there you will complete the guided tour with 3D glasses that will allow you to see a digital recreation of the space, to imagine what the buildings that were built there centuries ago were like). And finally the Snow Well and the underground galleries. (INFO: www.salamancaymas.es)
GAMES IN FAMILY
In the Center of Contemporary Art of the city, the DA2, there are usually exhibitions and workshops for the little ones (consult).
The city is visited comfortably walking, for the liveliest you can rent a bicycle. If it is good weather approach the pier -which is between the iron bridge and the Roman- to walk along the riverbank or take a boat ride on the Tormes.
A few minutes from the center of Salamanca is the Barrio del Oeste, a place where the canvases are garage doors, shops, walls, median walls, urban furniture. An Urban Gallery open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, which has created another stage, another neighborhood and another city, more artistic, more cultural. The Urban Gallery is a project that arises from the need to bring art to all audiences. You can make, through its app, two tours of the Urban Gallery. + info: www.galeriaurbanasalamanca.es
There are many hotels and aparthotels that have rooms adapted to accommodate the whole family; with cots, bunk beds and spaces designed and designed for the little ones. Some include special amenities for children, others, have baby kit, on request, with bathtub, night lamp, baby carrier, whisk cup and warm bottles.
You can eat in any of the restaurants in the city, some of them have spaces equipped with playrooms and playrooms for the little ones.
And as a prize: an ice cream in the Plaza Mayor in summer or a chocolate with churros in winter.
If you want to buy something, the shopping area is in the vicinity of Toro and Zamora streets. If you want to take a souvenir, you can visit the souvenir shops in the center, Calle la Rúa, or go to La Tienda de Turismo de Salamanca (under the clock of the City Council) , which has a fun line of merchandising inspired by the city of Salamanca: bears, watches, balls, paints...
If you are going to spend several days in Salamanca and you can visit the province these are other recommendations:
A day of skiing in La Covatilla or visiting the rock art site of Siega Verde, where you can see cave engravings of animals. You can also go to the Arribes del Duero Natural Park (the Park House is in the castle of Sobradillo). In Aldeadávila and Vilvestre you can take a boat ride along the Douro River, make routes through nature and watch birds: Royal eagles, lion vultures, hawks and storks. In Ciudad Rodrigo there is the Interpretation Center of the Fortifications where you can disguise yourself as a soldier and in San Felices you can feel like authentic crusaders. Nearby, there is the archaeological classroom of Yecla de Yeltes y Lumbrales, where you can enter an old veton fort. It's a lot of fun for them to visit a cheese or honey factory. The most daring can approach to an adventure park in nature (in San Miguel de Valero or San Felices) or canoeing. More info about the province in: http://www.salamancaemocion.es
