FASHION CULTURE. ARTESANÍA DEL BORDADO SERRANO.
The Museum of Commerce exhibits, until July 3, a sample of provincial crafts that has, as a common denominator, the typical iconographic motifs of the popular embroidery that is made in the Sierra de Francia. Mud, wood, metal, glass, plastic... are the supports in which each craftsman has incorporated these motifs with the intention of creating an identity image for the products of that area. The Red Arrayán Association of Culture, Heritage and Environment has implemented the so-called EnTre2 Plan that has among its objectives the Recognition and Safeguarding of the Popular Embroidery of the Sierra de Francia, conceived as a remarkable part of its cultural heritage. To this end, the Arrayán Network is working to obtain, in the near future, its declaration as a ‘Bien de Interés Cultural’ (BIC) by the Junta de Castilla y León. In a complementary way, the Entre2 Plan aims at Cultural Immersion and Creative Innovation in the mountains of Salamanca, thus generating, to achieve it, new products and services that allow greater economic development of these areas. With this intention, as a common thread of new resources, the confluence of creators and artisan workshops has been sought, jointly developing various activities that serve to publicize the richness of this cultural and identity heritage. The sample that is now exposed includes several examples of that joint work because the artisan products that are exposed incorporate traditional motifs and decorations developed, historically, in the Salamanca mountains. This idea has been valued by the ADRISS Local Action Group, through the ART-RURAL cooperation program of the Sierras de Salamanca. Together with other Groups of the Region and with the cooperation of the Department of Culture of the Provincial Council and the Department of Tourism of the City of Salamanca, we want to contribute with this exhibition to the Sustainable Development of the Social and Economic Fabric of the Rural Territories.
