THE BARRIUM OF MIRAT. LEGATE FROM A SALMANTIN INDUSTRIAL

The Barrio de Mirat, legacy of a Salamancan industrialist, is the title of the tenth installment of the collection that, on the history of commerce and local industry edited by the Museo del Comercio. Two years ago this institution had the opportunity to access the business documentation kept by Mirat S.A., probably the oldest industry in Salamanca. Among this documentation were several Cartapacios dedicated to the construction of the neighborhood built at the beginning of the 20th century by Juan Casimiro Mirat, a fundamental figure to understand the arrival of modernity in Salamanca. The authors of this Journal of History of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca have carried out a deep research work providing new data on the family of industrialists and one of their main contributions to Salamanca: the neighborhood that gives its name to one of the best known streets of its network: Mirat Avenue. 27,5x15cm, 2,5€
