THE COLISEUM THEATRE. PASSAGE TO DIVERSION AND DREAMS

The Museum of Commerce has published a new issue of its collection dedicated to former companies in the capital and province. This issue, number 19, is a monograph on the Coliseum theater-cinema, still present in the collective imagination as it has given a (popular) name to one of the entrance and exit passages to the Plaza Mayor. The Coliseum theater-cinema was one of the centers dedicated to the most emblematic culture and recreation of Salamanca. It opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1933 and for almost six decades maintained a national height programming. His scene went through the most flowery of the Hispanic song and theater and his billboard featured some of the most important film premieres of each year. This new installment of the series on the History of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca published by the museum is written by Tomás Rivas, who lived the history of theater since childhood, because his father was professionally linked to the Coliseum from almost its inauguration until its definitive closure Tomás Rivas has preserved many graphic and textual documents illustrating that story. This, together with his memory, are the pillars on which this text is based that will serve to remember another business of endearing remembrance for the Salamancans. 27, 5x15cm, 2,5€
