In collaboration with the Filmoteca de Castilla y León
In collaboration with the Filmoteca de La Rioja, Rafael Azcona, we commemorate the centenary of the birth of screenwriter Rafael Azcona, the man who wrote Spanish cinema for decades, with the screening of one of his great films Peppermint Frappé (1967), directed by Carlos Saura and framed within the new Spanish cinema or the Spanish new wave, that cinema made by a group of filmmakers between 1960 and the mid-70s, moving away from the most common genres in productions made until then. It was selected in the official section of the 1968 Cannes Film Festival, but was not screened due to the cancellation of the event because of the May '68 protests. Two months later, it won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
