Shopping

Shopping in Salamanca is taking a piece of the city with you. You can find everything in the more than 4,000 establishments spread across the capital of Tormes: clothes, footwear, accessories, jewelry, souvenirs, gastronomy, local crafts. The commercial area is located on the northern exit routes from Plaza Mayor. In the vicinity of Toro and Zamora streets, you will find franchises, designer stores, small shops, all within your reach so you can do your shopping while strolling leisurely through pedestrian streets with golden stone buildings. A pleasant walk where you will encounter a street musician and, if it coincides, also a book fair in Plaza Mayor, or a crafts and pottery fair in Plaza de los Bandos. Built on an old 18th-century Baroque convent, we will visit a spectacular space, a contemporary steel and glass building with a 22-meter high dome. Inside, there is a Zara store, a unique place highly recommended for enjoying shopping and art. The city's neighborhoods are a good opportunity to get a feel for local commerce. In the area between the Plaza and the cathedrals, towards the river, you will find souvenir shops and a multitude of traditional 'charra' craft shops, from jewelers to saddleries. Also, gourmet shops where you can buy cold meats and hams with the Guijuelo Designation of Origin. These and other products from the province can be found in the Central Market, a beautiful modernist building with great activity during the morning. Stay alert because during the visit you will also discover some old shops, with century-old window displays, such as Pastelería La Madrileña or Farmacia Urbina.

The 'Saldecompras' app offers information and discounts, integrating local commerce with the tourist offer.
