Miradas Project: Looking at Childhood from Art and Free Play

PLAYING BY NATURE

Walking through DA2, like walking through the forest, enjoying and feeling each step, allowing oneself to be surprised by all the life that surrounds us, welcomes us or demands our attention. Nature and the art center dialogue, they share a common language that speaks to us of discovering while we discover ourselves, of the value of being present as cycles unfold and everything changes. We are Homo Ludens. Exploration, freedom, curiosity, spontaneity… We are free play. The Miradas Project is an experimentation space. A four-legged table: the students of the Higher Education Cycle in Early Childhood Education from IES Fernando de Rojas, as protagonists; the cycle's teachers, Ana Artime and Fidel González, as facilitators; the artist Juanvi Sánchez as coordinator and companion; and the colleagues from DA2, contributing to make everything easy at the art center. And so, we wander through the forest, which now consists of works hung on the wall, now an installation or a branch collected by the river… and we play, experiment, learn. At the end of this shared time, among everyone, an exhibition is created that gathers the lived process and a play installation: the little ones will then be protagonists, along with their families and preschools. Playing is in our nature. Let's play.
