Info

In this beautiful building, Cursos Internacionales of the University of Salamanca offers Spanish classes for foreign students. Undoubtedly, the most international venue in the city of Salamanca, boasting a rich history of successive constructions and architectural modifications. Originally the Temple of San Bartolomé de los Apóstoles, erected during the Reconquista repopulation period, it was later reformed by Gil de Hontañón in the 16th century. In the 17th century, it served as the Colegio Virgen de la Concepción de las Niñas Huérfanas (School for Orphan Girls of the Virgin of the Conception). Between 1819 and 1829, it became the Colegio de la Magdalena, built to replace the one destroyed by the French in the Cerro de San Vicente area during the Peninsular War (Guerra de la Independencia). Around 1940, it was used as the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé (San Bartolomé University Residence Hall). Currently, students from over 100 different countries occupy its numerous modern classrooms.
