Itinerant CortoEspaña Festival 2019
Granero street, in the Barrio del Oeste district, will host, starting next Thursday, June 20, the third edition of the Itinerant CortoEspaña Festival, which in Salamanca adopted the name "Cine corto de verano" (Summer Short Film Festival). This event, brought to the city thanks to the efforts of Salamanca Film Commission, allows spectators to enjoy the best selection of short films from the Spanish audiovisual scene during June and July. Screenings will begin at 10:15 PM and are divided into two blocks: the first will take place on June 20, June 27, and July 4, featuring short films in competition this year. The public will be able to vote for their favorite film. The second block, starting Thursday, July 11, will screen the best short films from previous editions, out of competition.
CortoEspaña is an initiative created for the exhibition and promotion of short films in Spain, aiming to ensure the short film format occupies its rightful prominent position within the Spanish audiovisual landscape. CortoEspaña organizes over 150 events annually, including festivals and thematic series, bringing short films across the entirety of Spain.
The Itinerant CortoEspaña Festival is currently the largest short film event in Spain, gathering over 30,000 spectators at its 100 events in 2018.
One of the Festival's unique features is the significant influence of the audiences attending the circuit's festivals. All audience votes are collected to determine which works are, on average, the attendees' favorites, thereby awarding the different prizes (the first, second, third, and fourth Audience Awards, endowed respectively with 2,000, 1,000, 500, and 250 euros).
This third edition is organized by Salamanca Film Commission and is supported by bar el Granero, Javier Díez, and ZOES.
