Manhattan Short Film Festival 2018
Salamanca is once again participating, starting next Tuesday, October 2nd, and for the ninth consecutive year, in the 21st edition of the Manhattan Short Film Festival. This festival showcases the world's best short films in over 250 cities, and in Salamanca, spectators will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite short.
The Museo del Comercio will once again host the short film screenings. Due to the festival's broad acceptance among the public, it has again been decided to hold two screenings per day at the following times: 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Over the four days, Salamanca's spectators will be able to vote for their favorite short film and actor or actress among the nine finalists. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
Each spectator will receive a voting card upon entry, on which they are asked to vote for one of the projected short films and their favorite actor or actress. At the end of the screening, the voting cards will be collected for tabulation. The voting results are centralized via email and sent to the organization in Manhattan. After all votes are tallied, the winners will be announced at an event taking place on October 10th in New York City. More than 100,000 people from five continents are expected to gather in cinemas, galleries, museums, or cafes to watch, enjoy, and choose the winning short film.
The Salamanca City Council, through the Salamanca Film Commission and in collaboration with the Museo del Comercio, is once again organizing this festival, which primarily aims to promote the short film format, support its creators, and offer spectators worldwide an opportunity to participate in a common project.
The Film Commission has produced promotional material: posters and flyers that will be distributed at various points in the city, such as university faculties and libraries.
"One Week, One World, One Festival" is the philosophy that summarizes the Manhattan Short Film Festival. For one week, the 9 finalist short films will be screened in multiple venues around the world, and the audience will choose the winner. Venues include cities such as Phoenix, Vienna, New York, Santa Monica, Boston, Buenos Aires, San Antonio, Sydney, Moscow, London, Mumbai, Turin, Prague, Bilbao… and also Salamanca.
