THE DEHESA AND THE FIGHTING BULL

07/03/2016

Known for his elegant and serious bullfighting, honorable and honest in his craft, brave and restrained, making no easy concessions to the gallery. A master of 'temple' and creator of 'faenas' with surprising flow. His exhibit houses numerous treasures reflecting his career as one of the great matadors of his era.
Since ancient times, Salamanca has been a privileged area for breeding fighting bulls, thanks to the existence of those peculiar ecosystems known as 'dehesas', mainly the Campo Charro. The abundant pastures and the wooded areas of holm oaks and oaks, together with the ponds and small streams, constitute the perfect habitat for the fighting bull. This unique environment also has its space in the museum.
This space presents us with data that reveal the importance of the bull in the economy and employment, the livestock farms, and a look at the dehesa as an ecosystem and privileged environment for breeding fighting bulls and conserving endangered species.
