Introduction to Chess Course

The Salamanca Museum of Commerce and Industry has organized a free chess initiation course aimed at children and young people, which will be held during the month of July. The initiative is part of the museum's summer activities and aims to bring this mental sport closer to young people during their school holidays. The course will be taught by professor Amador González de la Nava, FIDE Chess Master, and will be held in two shifts: from July 1st to 15th, aimed at children aged 6 to 12; and from July 16th to 30th, for young people aged 13 to 18. **Sessions will be held from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a maximum of 15 places per group. ** Registrations can be made by calling the Museum of Commerce: 923 23 84 02.

Additionally, as a complementary activity, on Saturday, June 21st at 6:00 PM, a Simultaneous Game will be held in the museum's square, led by Amador González himself. Participation will be open to all interested individuals, without prior registration.

The Salamanca City Council, through the Museum of Commerce, promotes these types of activities in order to foster chess as an educational and personal development tool. Among the benefits associated with its practice are the improvement of concentration, planning, memory, decision-making, and emotional management.
