LA CUARESMERA 2023
The tradition of La Cuaresmera has persisted in some families from Salamanca until the 90s of the present century, as noted by the Salamanca ethnographer Rosa Mª Lorenzo in the book Semana Santa en Salamanca published by the Salamanca City Council in 2014, where she states:
In my memory, I keep the cherished memory of the drawing of the Cuaresmera that, until the 1990s, was made by María Manuela de Vargas Sánchez (daughter of architect D. Joaquín de Vargas Aguirre). She was one of my best informants for studying the customs of Salamanca's dehesa and the city and honored me with her great affection and friendship until her death.
