COLORED PHOTOGRAPHY BY VENANCIO GOMBAU. EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Made by the Salamancan photographer Venancio Gombau (1861-1929). Early 20th century. Dimensions 42 x 30cm. Period photograph and wooden frame. Piece acquired by the Museum of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca in 2025. Exhibited in the photographic studios' room.
The lady appears elegantly dressed with a mantilla and a fan. In addition to the backdrops, the lighting, the sweetness of the sitter, etc., it is worth noting that the photographic retouching was done by Venancio's wife, Francisca Guerra, a photographer, painter, and one of the best retouchers of her time.
Francisca continued improving the photographs of their sons who carried on the business, Amalio and Guzmán, until her death in 1939.
