BOMATI Y MALDONADO. «GARAGE SALMANTINO». CARRIAGES AND AUTOMOBILES
The history of the Bomati family in our city begins in the mid-19th century. From then until the Civil War, its members were active citizens of this small provincial capital which, at the beginning of the last century, barely exceeded twenty-five thousand inhabitants. In its early days, the Bomati name was linked to the world of horse-drawn carriage manufacturing, a business that underwent a revolution with the advent of the automobile, placing the old workshops between obsolescence or complete transformation. Very few people in the city remember this surname, which made the writing of this Museum of Commerce Booklet particularly challenging. We wish to thank, in any case, the invaluable collaboration of the Museo de Automoción and of Don Demetrio Gómez Planche and Don Javier Gómez Casillas.
