BOMATI Y MALDONADO. «GARAGE SALMANTINO». CARRIAGES AND AUTOMOBILES
The history of the Bomati family in our city begins in the mid-19th century. From then until the Civil War, its members were active citizens of this small provincial capital which, at the beginning of the last century, barely exceeded twenty-five thousand inhabitants. Initially, the Bomati name was linked to the world of horse-drawn carriage construction, a business that underwent a revolution with the arrival of the automobile and that placed the old workshops between disappearance or total reform. Very few people in the city remember this surname, which is why the writing of this Notebook of the Museum of Commerce has been particularly complicated. We want to thank, in any case, the invaluable collaboration of the Automotive Museum and of Don Demetrio Gómez Planche and Don Javier Gómez Casillas. The Notebooks are sold for 2.5 euros at the Tourism shop in Plaza Mayor, and the Museum of Commerce itself.
