DON FRANCISCO NÚÑEZ IZQUIERDO AND THE NÚÑEZ PRINTING HOUSE AND BOOKSTORE
The Núñez Printing House and Bookstore, opened in 1900, operated until March 14, 2007, when it closed due to circumstances beyond its owners' control. Repeatedly re-established upon a bookselling business active since at least the 18th century, its final phase of existence, corresponding to the Núñez family's ownership, represents a succession of five generations at the helm of the same enterprise. Its history begins with Don Francisco Núñez Izquierdo, one of the province's great driving forces at the dawn of modernity, whom Salamanca has perhaps overlooked in its tributes. Connected to the newspaper El Adelanto, the oldest still enduring in the city, and to the aforementioned bookstore, his successors also played a significant commercial and social role for one hundred years. 27.5x15cm, €2.50
