THE MIRAT NEIGHBORHOOD. LEGACY OF AN INDUSTRIALIST FROM SALAMANCA

"The Mirat Neighborhood, Legacy of an Industrialist from Salamanca" is the title of the tenth volume in the collection on the history of local trade and industry published by the Museo del Comercio (Museum of Trade). Two years ago, this institution had the opportunity to access the business documentation preserved by Mirat S.A., probably Salamanca's oldest industry. Among these documents, several folders were found dedicated to the construction of the neighborhood built at the beginning of the 20th century by Juan Casimiro Mirat, a pivotal figure for understanding the arrival of modernity in Salamanca. The authors of this Notebook on the History of Trade and Industry in Salamanca have conducted extensive research, providing new data on the family of industrialists and one of their main contributions to Salamanca: the neighborhood that gives its name to one of its most well-known streets: Avenida de Mirat.
