THE LOOMS OF LUMBRALES. THE SOCIOECONOMIC IMPULSE THAT CHARACTERIZED THE TOWN.
The 29th issue in the series of notebooks on the History of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca is titled; The looms of Lumbrales. The socioeconomic impulse that characterized the town. It has been written by journalist Ignacio Francia and covers in nine chapters the activity of the last weaver of Lumbrales, Julián Sánchez, and the other looms in the town. It is not the first time that the interest of this collection has ventured outside the municipal scope of Salamanca, as was done with the issues dedicated to TEJISA and Mantas el Taxista, companies located in Peñaranda de Bracamonte and El Bodón, respectively. The saying goes, “a good spinner carries it with care”. In writing as in spinning, tact is equally required, which the reader will perceive by turning the pages of the text written by Ignacio Francia. Through a demanding work of synthesis, the author, with whom we hope to continue collaborating in successive issues, presents us with a concise but complete overview of this important socioeconomic activity in Lumbrales. The notebooks are sold for 2.5 euros at the Museum of Commerce, the Plaza Mayor Tourist Shop, and some bookstores.
