LUIS MÉNDEZ ARTESANOS. A LOOK AT THE WORLD OF CHARRA FILIGREE

The eleventh Volume of Salamanca's History of Commerce and Industry focuses on a company dedicated to jewelry and filigree work, a tradition with deep roots in our province. Luis Méndez Artesanos, the current name of the commercial firm featured in the publication, has its roots in the Salamanca mountains, specifically in Tamames. Throughout its long artisanal journey, and starting from traditional motifs, this family business has developed a unique jewelry style that has been recognized with multiple awards at national and international exhibitions. The text was written by Doctor Rosalba Francisca Ponce Riveros, who has extensively researched various topics related to Salamanca ethnography, including filigree. For this reason, the discussion will approach the subject from an anthropological rather than a merely historical perspective. The Museum of Commerce has published 500 copies of this volume, which are sold at the symbolic price of one euro at the Museum, at the Plaza Mayor Tourist Office, and in some bookstores in the city. 27,5x15cm, 2,5
