MANTAS EL TAXISTA. EL BODÓN AND ITS LOOMS

This new installment in the collection of monographs on the History of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca is dedicated to a craft business, located far from the capital, in a small town in the region of Ciudad Rodrigo: El Bodón. Its presence in a collection fundamentally focused on the city's old businesses is justified as a response to an appeal launched at the time to provincial crafts that were, for some years, closely linked to the activity of this Museum. The text has been written by María Rosa Cepa, a representative of the third generation of a family that focused its economy on the manual manufacturing of textiles. Matas El Taxista is, therefore, an exponent of a type of commerce that, as in the case of many other crafts, will resort to itinerant sales to sell its product, reaching the capital itself during its travels. For sale at the Museum of Commerce, the Tourism shop in Plaza Mayor, and some bookstores. Since the museum is non-profit, the sale price is 2.5 euros.
