MANTAS EL TAXISTA. EL BODÓN AND ITS LOOMS

This new volume in the collection of monographs on the History of Commerce and Industry in Salamanca is dedicated to a craft business, located far from the capital, in a small village in the Ciudad Rodrigo region: El Bodón. Its inclusion in a collection primarily focused on the city's former businesses is justified as a response to an appeal launched at the time to provincial crafts that were, for several years, closely linked to the activities of this Museum. The text was written by María Rosa Cepa, representative of the third generation of a family that centered its economy on the manual manufacturing of textiles. Matas El Taxista is, therefore, an exponent of a type of trade that, as in the case of many other crafts, would resort to itinerant sales to sell its product, reaching the capital itself in its travels. 27.5x15cm, €2.50
