TEJISA AND THE SALAMANCA FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY IN THE 20TH CENTURY

With this booklet, the Salamanca Museum of Commerce and Industry wishes to pay tribute to TEJISA, one of the most significant companies in the province during the last century, which would have celebrated eighty years of business activity in 2013. Exclusively dedicated to the footwear industry, the factory was founded in 1928 by Don Teodoro Jiménez and had its first headquarters in its town of origin, Peñaranda de Bracamonte. The consequences for the company of the terrible explosion in Peñaranda in 1939 led to its relocation to the provincial capital, where it remained until its disappearance in the 1980s. The text for this new installment on the history of commerce and industry in Salamanca has been written by Professor Miguel Carabias Orgaz, who, in addition to his research work, has drawn upon the recollections of Don Teodoro Jiménez Ruipérez, son of TEJISA's founder, to carry out his task. 27.5x15cm, €2.50
