TEJISA AND THE SALAMANCA FOOTWEAR INDUSTRY IN THE 20TH CENTURY

With this notebook, the Museum of Commerce and Industry of Salamanca wishes to pay tribute to one of the most important companies in the province during the last century, TEJISA, which would have celebrated eighty years of business activity in 2013. With an exclusive dedication to the world of footwear, the factory was founded in 1928 by Mr. Teodoro Jiménez and had its first headquarters in his hometown, Peñaranda de Bracamonte. The consequences for the company of the terrible explosion that occurred in Peñaranda in 1939 led to its relocation to the provincial capital, where it remained until its disappearance in the 1980s of the last century. The text of this new installment on the history of commerce and industry in Salamanca has been written by Professor Miguel Carabias Orgaz who, in addition to his research work, has relied, to carry out his work, on the memories of Mr.** Teodoro Jiménez Ruipérez**, son of the founder of TEJISA. The notebooks are sold for 2.5 euros at the Tourism shop in the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca, and at the Museum of Commerce itself.
