CUARESMERA 2021

The Cuaresmera used to be hung in a house window on Ash Wednesday and a leg was torn off every Sunday of Lent.

On Easter Sunday, it was sawn or burned with its last remaining leg, and that day of joy was celebrated with a succulent meal where meat, in the form of lamb, sausages, or hornazo, made its presence felt again.

The Cuaresmera was also displayed in shop windows and grocery stores to announce the sale of salted cod, a protagonist during the Lenten vigil period, as it was the only one that reached Castile -preserved in salt- and offered great variety in its preparation. CUARESMERA PARA WEB HAZ CARRUSEL 2021
